Nepal cabinet extended, 2 new ministers inducted

The cabinet of Nepal formed in 2017 has been expanded for the fourth time with the induction of two new ministers on Friday.

The two new ministers will be part of agitating party Federal Socialist Forum- Nepal (FSF-N).

The Office of the President made the announcement of the appointment on Friday afternoon

"On Friday Honorable President Bidhya Devi Bhandari made the appointments and portfolio division within the cabinet on the basis of Nepal`s Constitution Section 76`s Subsection (9) as per the reference from the Prime Minister," Spokespersons of the President Office Chabbindra Parajuli stated.

As per the release, Upendra Yadav chairman of the FSF-N has been appointed as Minister for Health and Population and Mohammad Estiyak Rai has been named as the Minister for the Urban Development.

Both the ministers will be taking the oath at 5 PM (local time) as per the announcement from the President`s Office.

The FSF-N have had come to the streets demanding amendment in the constitution and now comes onboard inking a two-point agreement with the government.

As per the agreement sealed on May 28, the government and the party will resolve the pertaining issues on the basis of mutual understanding.

With the induction and appointment of two ministers, the current government led by Prime Minister KP Oli will have the participation of two parties the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) and the FSF-N.
