Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday condemned the killing of political leader and cleric Maulana Sami ul Haq and expressed deep sorrow and sympathies, Pak Prime Minister Office stated.
According to sources, Khan condoled Haq's demise stating that Pakistan has been orphaned from a modern-day cleric and political leader adding that Maulana Haq shall always be remembered for his political and religious services.
PM Khan has also called for a report on the assassination and has instructed to bring the perpetrators to justice.

According to reports, Sami ul-Haq, also known as the "Father of the Taliban", taught some of the Afghan Islamist movement's leaders. He was reported killed on Friday in Pakistan's Rawalpindi, news agency Reuters reported.

Unknown attackers shot the prominent cleric, who runs an Islamic school in northwestern Pakistan, his deputy Yousaf Sha and nephew said, Reuters reported.
