Live like a king: Now you can rent former Nepal monarch's property

Former Nepal monarch Birendra Shah's property will be offered on rent. The office of the Nepal Trust has been given the go ahead to conserve and rent out the late monarch's houses and villas. The trust has prepared its regulation, after nine years of its establishment.
So far, it was not able to offer the former monarch's properties for rent in the absence of a regulation.
Trust secretary Bhim Upadhyaya said the trust had transfered owernership of 25,000 Ropanis of the late king in its name. It had also opened seven palaces for public viewing in different locations.
"The enactment of the regulation has paved the way for the trust to generate income by renting the former royal family’s assets," said Upadhyaya.
The income from the rent will go to educational, academic and health campaigns.
A proposal has been given by the trust to construct 25 buildings on the land belonging to the king to house VVIPs during the upcoming Nepal tour.
"We will begin constructing the proposed buildings after the proposal is passed," Upadhyay said.
The proposal has been presented in the presence of outgoing Prime Minister Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli at the 39th board meeting of the trust on July 15.
