On Firday, 176 members of the National Assembly voted in favour of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairperson while his opponent, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shehbaz Sharif, received 96 votes.
Khan's PTI emerged as the single largest party in this year's elections which were held on July 25. The party bagged a total of 116 seats which rose to 125 after nine independent members joined the party.
