Reports of a school bus with over 40 students falling into a gorge in Jammu and Kashmir, are incorrect, officials said Thursday.

A police official said the bus, which was believed to have met with an accident in Rajouri district, had returned to Poonch with all its occupants safe and sound.

A media report quoted additional Superintendent of Police in Poonch Masroor Mir as saying that the school children were safe and the school bus had not met with any accident.

He said the bus belonged to the Gareeb Nawaz school in Poonch.

Reports had earlier quoted officials as saying that many casualties were feared in an accident which took place when the bus was on its from Manjagot to Peer Kee Gali in Rajouri district near Poonch.
