India's External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is undergoing treatment for a kidney-related ailment in New Delhi's AIIMS hospital. Her condition is said to be stable and she is likely to remain in hospital for a few more days, news agency PTI reported.

"Her condition is stable. Her history of chronic diabetes has affected her kidney functioning. She is on maintenance dialysis," sources at AIIMS said.

The senior BJP leader, 64, admitted to the hospital's cardio-neuro centre on November 7 and is being monitored by a team of doctors led by the unit's chief Balram Airan.

She has been suffering from diabetes for almost 20 years, PTI reported.

The external affairs minister was previously hospitalised at AIIMS in April for pneumonia and other health issues.
