Imran Khan to take oath as Prime Minister on August 18th: PTI

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf(PTI) which emerged as the single largest party in the Pakistan elections held on July 25th said Imran Khan will take oath as prime minister on August 18th.

The news session of Pakistan's National Assembly will be convened on August 13th with all newly elected members taking the oath, the leader of the Opposition will also be chosen soon after.

Prime minister-in-waiting Imran Khan, 65, had to submit a written apology for violating the electoral code of conduct to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) after the election body had said the PTI chairman had cast his vote publicly instead of voting behind the screen.

The ECP had earlier rejected Imran's lawyer contention that his client did not intentionally stamp his ballot paper publicly. Imran had won NA-53 seat by defeating former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, bagging 92,891 votes against his PML-(N) rival who managed 44,314 votes.

The electoral body had withheld the notification of his success from the constituency in view of the pending case.

Meanwhile, reports said Imran will live in chief minister's annexe in Punjab House in Islamabad on weekdays and in his private home in Bani Gala. Imran had said the Prime Minister House would be turned into an educational institution.
