Pakistan's Prime Minister-in-waiting and PTI chief Imran Khan said on Wednesday that his party aims at building a relationship with the US based on trust and mutual respect.

In a meeting with the Acting US Ambassador to Pakistan John F. Hoover on Wednesday at his Banigala residence in Pakistan, Khan said that because of the trust deficit between the two countries, Pakistan and the US had seen many ups and downs.

He said that under his governance the country will engage with the US to make this relationship more balanced and trustworthy.

Stressing on the revitalisation of diplomatic ties between the two countries Khan added that the trade and economic relations with the US was extremely important.

The two also discussed other issues of transforming the relationship for each other's benefit.

Khan's PTI, the single largest party in the National Assembly, has nominated him to be the next prime minister.

He will be sworn in on either August 14 or 15 as the date has not been finalised at President's House in Islamabad.
