Hafiz Sayeed set to walk free as Pak govt withdraws his detention papers: Report

The Pakistan government today withdrew Jamaat- ud -Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Sayeed's detention papers before the Supreme Court setting the stage for him to walk free, reports said.
The Pakistan authorities had on Sunday withdrawn terrorism charges against Saeed and his group (JuD).
The Jamaat chief has been under house arrest since January 31.
A few weeks ago, Saeed's advocate A K Dogar had argued in court that the government had detained JuD leaders on the basis of "apprehensions and hearsay".
Saeed and his four aides - Abdullah Ubaid, Malik Zafar Iqbal, Abdul Rehman Abid and Qazi Kashif Hussain - have been placed under house arrest in Lahore under the anti-terrorism act.
On September 25, the house arrest of Saeed and others was extended for another 30 days by the Punjab government.
The JuD has been declared as a foreign terrorist organisation by the United States in June 2014. The US has announced a $10 million bounty on Saeed's head for his role in terror activities.
India has accused Hafiz Sayeed of masterminding the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
