Former Pak PM Nawaz Sharif's wife Begum Kulsoom Nawaz passes away in London

Pakistan's Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's wife Kulsoom Nawaz passed away on Tuesday at London’s Harley Street Clinic, Geo TV reported. 

Kulsoom Nawaz was undergoing the treatment for lymphoma (throat) cancer since August 2017 and was admitted to the hospital in June this year.

According to reports, Begum Nawaz was put on life support earlier on Tuesday owing to her deteriorating health on Monday night.

On June 15, she was placed on a ventilator following a cardiac arrest.

Kulsoom Nawaz was born in 1950 and got married to ex-PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif in the year 1971.

She served as Pakistan's first lady for three non-consecutive terms from 1990-1993, 1997-1999 and 2013-2017, The Dawn reported.

Kulsoom is survived by her husband and four children - Maryam, Hassan, Hussain and Asma.

Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf took to Twitter to condole Begum Nawaz's demise.

"We are extremely saddened by the news of Begum Kulsoom Nawaz’s passing away. We have massive respect for her, who stood like a rock in the face of a dictator when no one else around her did. May she rest in peace," the tweet read.

Nawaz Sharif is serving a jail term of 10-years, while his daughter Maryam Nawaz has been imprisoned for seven years

The father-daughter duo has been convicted under Panama corruption case, lodged in the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi.

Sharif's son in law, on the other hand, is also serving a jail term of one year.
