Dust storms sweep through Karachi in Pakistan, leaving three people dead: Report

Dust storms move through Pakistan's city of Karachi on late Sunday night into Monday, leaving at least three people dead and 20 injured, local media reports.

Video shared with Reuters showed the Monday winds dragging sand in the atmosphere, minimizing visibility on the roads. Social media users from Karachi also posted videos of trees and poles blocking paths after being knocked down the storms.

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Director Sardar Sarfaraz told local media that Sunday's dust storm was stronger than expected, blowing at 65 kilometres per hour, reducing visibility to 500 metres.

Local media also reported that some flights from Jinnah International airport was cancelled on Sunday due to the storm.
