Bengal anti-land grab agitation: Mamata retracts relocation statement
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee's office retracted its statement over relocating the power station if the people did not want to give their land away.
Trinamool Congress’ official Twitter handle had in an earlier tweet said, “No land will be acquired if people don't want to give away land. Proposed power grid will be relocated if required."
The tweet was deleted minutes after it was posted and media houses were also asked to 'ignore the earlier mail' regarding the previous statement. (Twitter)

The statement came in the wake of clashes between the villagers and the police. While the villagers earlier demand had been that work be suspended at Power Grid Corporation Limited’s Bhangar substation, their latest demand is that the land, which was acquired by the state government be returned to them.
Political parties alleged that Trinamool Congress succumbed under pressure and made the announcement.
Meanwhile, rumors are rife that this is a major turnaround by Trinamool Congress.
Some even say, that the relocation of the power grid at this substation or suspension of work unit permanently, might be given a second thought.
