At least four Islamic State (IS) militants were killed in a United States' airstrike in Kunar province in Afghanistan on Thursday, according to the Afghan military forces.

In a statement, the 201st Silab Corps of the Afghan National Army (ANA) said that the US military carried out an airstrike on an IS hideout in the last 24 hours by using an unmanned aerial vehicle, Khaama Press reported.

It added that the airstrike was carried out in Lechalam area in Manogi district of Kunar province and four IS militants were confirmed dead by the ANA. One militant was also injured in the airstrike.

Also, at least seven Islamic State militants have been killed during airstrikes conducted by Afghan air force in Afghanistan's Achin district on Friday, reports said.

Afghan air forces targeted a Daesh hideout in Pekhi Baghdara area of Achin district on Thursday night.

Reports further said that Afghanistan forces or civilians remained unharmed in the incident.

IS has not commented on the issue so far.

The latest round of airstrike comes after 15 Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants were killed in an airstrike in Kunar province last week.

The airstrike also killed the chief of TTP Mullah Fazullah's son, according to the Afghan military forces.
