A teacher was allegedly abducted in broad daylight on Tuesday and gang-raped in a field along a state highway linking Delhi-Lucknow National Highway 24, days after the Bulandshahr gangrape incident.

She was abducted by three men in a car and forcibly taken to a sugarcane field where she was raped and the act was videographed, police said, adding the survivor was left in the field by the perpetrators who fled after committing the heinous act in Khadua road under CB Ganj police station.

On getting information of the crime, senior police officials led by the inspector general (IG), deputy inspector general (DIG), senior superintendent of police (SSP), and city supritendant of police rushed to the spot and case was lodged against three accused who are absconding.

In an immediate damage control exercise, inspector of crime branch, Ganj police station, Rajesh Singh, was suspended by IG (Bareily zone) Vijay Singh Meena, police said. Giving details of the incident additional superintendent of police Samir Saurabh said the teacher was abducted and gang-raped while she was going to school this morning.

He said that the accused later dumped her at Mathurapur on the national highway and escaped. The additional superintendent of police said that medical examination of the victim was conducted late night and an FIR was lodged on the complaint lodged by her father.

“As of now inspector crime branch Ganj R K Singh has been placed under suspension,” he said. The ASP said that efforts were on to identify and arrest the accused. It is the second incident within four days when a woman had been gangraped on the national highway.

Earlier, a 35-year-old woman and her teenage daughter were raped by a gang of robbers on the highway while they were traveling with family to Shahjahanpur on the night of July 29. The duo was pulled out of their car by the robbers at gun-point and raped in a field in Bulandshahr district, just 65 kilometres from the national capital New Delhi.

The family from Noida was heading to their native village to attend a funeral when their car was hit by a blunt object. As the vehicle stopped, the gang members pounced on them and looted their valuables before raping the women.
