9 Taliban militants killed by Afghan forces
At least nine Taliban militants were killed and three others were left injured in northern Baghlan province in Afghanistan on Saturday.
The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces carried out military operations in the area and attacked Taliban hideouts in Tala-o-Barfak, an army spokesman in the northern region Major Mohammad Hamid Rezai said on Sunday.
The militants were killed during Alburz-24 operations after forces launched a coordinated attack on militants, reports said.
The operations, which were conducted in Turmosh valley in Tala Barfak district, destroyed a check post established by the militants.
The check post was being used to collect money from the vehicles carrying coal, the report said.
No comments have been received by the anti-government armed militant groups including the Taliban militants with respect to the report, so far.
The attack comes after Taliban militants stormed an army base in the western province of Farah overnight, killing at least 18 soldiers on Saturday.
