5.2 magnitude earthquake jolts India-Pakistan border

A mid-intensity earthquake measuring 5.2 on the richter scale shook the border region of Jammu and Kashmir today. Tremors were also felt in Islamabad and Peshawar in Pakistan.

There were no immediate reports of loss to life and property. The quake was centred around 62 km from Muzaffarabad in Pakistan-Adminisered Kashmir.


The quake occurred at 1.34 pm local time at the depth of 10 km, according to the National Centre for Seismology, a unit under the Ministry of Earth Sciences.
