The death toll in the twin blast that rocked Balochistan on Saturday has killed at least 23 miners.

The first incident occurred at a mine in Marwaarh, east of the city of Quetta in Balochistan, while the second blast occurred at Sooranj area.

The Pakistan media reports quoted commissioner of Quetta Division saying that explosion in Marwaah occurred due to the accumulation of methane gas. About 25 miners were working inside the mine when the blast took place, the commissioner said.

The second blast at Sooranj killed seven miners.

All the injured miners were rescued and shifted to the hospital for treatment.

Balochistan with a rich accumulation of minerals has a very poor safety record.

Authorities fear of more casualties in the two blasts.
