20 Indian doctors may visit Pakistan to examine Indian prisoners

A team of 20 Indian doctors is expected to visit Pakistan to examine mentally unsound, women, children and elderly people who are locked up in Pakistan prisons. The prisoners have been waiting for repatriation since early March 2018. The countries are in talks over the issue of visas. However, sources say that Pakistan may deny giving Visas to such a large number of doctors. Before arriving at any decision, Indian has laid out four crucial conditions including an immediate end to harassment of Indian diplomats, unhindered movement of Indian High Commissioner Ajay Bisaria outside the Pakistan capital, construction of Indian residents in Islamabad and to allow Indian diplomats membership of Islamabad Club. The move came after the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj met with the Pakistan High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood in October 2017. Swaraj in the meeting had initiated of undertaking humanitarian measures related to elderly, women, children and mentally unsound prisoners.
