A man, who has been paralysed with a severed spinal cord, has been able to walk again. The credit goes to an implant, which has been developed by a team of Swiss researchers.

Now, he can walk with the help of the electrical implant, which has been surgically attached to his spine.
For the first time, a person, who has had a complete cut to the spinal cord, has been able to walk freely.

"I stand up, walk where I want to, I can walk the stairs - it's almost a normal life," said Roccati.
Prof Jocelyne Bloch from the Laboratoire de Neurothérapies et Neuromodulation – LNTM, who is the neurosurgeon who inserted the implant, said that he was amazed by the speed of Roccati's recovery.
Bloch had also attached electrodes to his individual nerve fibres.
Not just this, another paralysed patient has been able to become a father with the help of this technology.
The research has been published in the Nature Medicine journal.
