Cricket World Cup 2019: Asian dominance in Britishers' game

Cricketers of the Asian countries have dominated the ICC Cricket World Cup, which is underway in England and Wales. (Published on: 02-07-2019)

Rohit Sharma

Star opener for India, Rohit Sharma is playing his second World Cup.

Rohit has scored four centuries for India in the tournament, against South Africa, Pakistan, England and Bangladesh.

The right-hand batsman has scored 544 runs in seven matches so far at this year's World Cup.

Shakib Al Hasan

Shakib has been one of the most consistent players in the 2019 World Cup.

He is playing his fourth World Cup, having played his first World Cup in 2007.

Shakib has scored 476 runs and is ranked number three in the highest run-getters list in the tournament.

The left-arm spinner has also picked up 11 wickets in this year's World Cup so far.

Virat Kohli

India's skipper Virat Kohli has been in sublime form in the World Cup.

Kohli has hit five consecutive fifty-plus scores in the tournament.

He's playing his third World Cup this year, having previously featured in 2011, that India won on home soil and 2015 World Cup.

He has scored 408 runs so far at this year's World Cup.

Babar Azam

Babar Azam is featuring in his first World Cup.

The 24-year-old has been in great form for Pakistan is has scored 379 runs in the tournament so far in eight matches.

He hit his maiden World Cup century against New Zealand.

The right-hand batsman is the highest run-getter for Pakistan in this World Cup.

Mohammed Shami

Having only been included in the playing eleven in the last three matches for India, Shami has performed brilliantly.

Shami picked up the first hat-trick of this year's World Cup against Afghanistan.

This is Shami's second appearance at the World Cup, having played the 2015 World Cup previously.

He has taken 13 wickets so far in just 3 matches.

Mohammad Amir

Amir is playing his maiden World Cup this year.

Initially, Amir was not picked in Pakistan's tentative World Cup squad but was later named in the squad after performing in the away series against England.

The left-arm pacer has been the most successful bowler for Pakistan, having picked up 16 wickets from eight matches.

Mohammad Nabi

Nabi has proven his mettle in the otherwise underperforming Afghanistan team at the World Cup.

The all-rounder has made valiant efforts to take his team home on several occasions but has just fallen short.

He has taken nine wickets and scored 105 runs in the tournament so far.

Lasith Malinga

The Sri Lankan veteran is appearing in his fourth World Cup.

Malinga has picked up 12 wickets in the tournament so far, the highest for the Sri Lankan team.

His vital yorkers have proven to be game-changing for Sri Lanka on several occasions in this World Cup.
