Thousands of women gathered outside Australia’s parliament on Monday to protest against sexual assault against women, and calling for measures to push gender equality. What triggered the outpour? Take a look below

In addition, protesters in Melbourne carried a white banner running into metres bearing the names of women who faced gendered violence in the country and died since 2008.

Recent rape allegation against Attorney-General Christian Porter stoked the movement. He has denied the alleged assault dating back to 1988.
