Travel restrictions prompted by the Omicron coronavirus variant have set back the nascent recovery in international flights, creating delays and headaches in some regions, according to airline and airport officials.

Here are the world's best-selling airplanes:

Airbus A330

The wide-body, 257-seat model features new engines from Rolls-Royce and is designed as a lower-cost alternative to all-new long-haul jets like the A350 and Boeing 787.

The A330-800 had until recently been left with no customers after Hawaiian Airlines canceled an order, but Airbus announced last month it had won an order for eight from Kuwait Airways.

Boeing 747

Pan Am was the launch customer for the Boeing 747, the original "Jumbo Jet."

Germany's Lufthansa is in talks with Boeing on buying a possible new freighter version of the 777X jetliner, while welcoming competition with a new Airbus A350 cargo plane, Chief Executive Carsten Spohr said on Friday.

Boeing 777

Boeing Co's steady climb out of successive crises - among the worst in US corporate history, gained momentum last week when it won the 2021 jet order race against rival Airbus on an adjusted basis with a 737 MAX sales blitz.

But closely watched orders and deliveries have underscored the industrial and regulatory currents still facing its bigger 787 Dreamliner and 777X flagships - issues that have left Boeing fighting concurrent battles on both sides of the Atlantic.

Boeing 727

The 727’s wing flap system, which provides extra lift at low speeds, was unusually large and sophisticated, which allowed the plane to descend more quickly than other rivals and avoid buildings and other obstacles close to runways.

Bombardier CRJ

It is a family of regional jets introduced in 1991 by Bombardier Aerospace. The Canadair Regional Jet dominates the regional jet market.

Allegiant Air is poised to order 50 Boeing 737 MAX jets worth $5 billion at list prices, people familiar with the matter said, rejecting offers by traditional supplier Airbus as the no-frills carrier seeks to capture a boom in post-pandemic US tourism.

Cessna 172

The Cessna 172 Skyhawk is an American four-seat, single-engine, high wing, fixed-wing aircraft made by the Cessna Aircraft Company. First flown in 1955, more 172s have been built than any other aircraft. It was developed from the 1948 Cessna 170 but with tricycle landing gear rather than conventional landing gear.
