This is what Indians searched most on Google in 2019

Google on Thursday shared the list of top trends that dominated search results globally as well as in India. 

“In 2019, searches for heroes soared” the internet, announced Google in a YouTube video releasing ‘Year in Search - 2019’. 

Cricket World Cup

Cricket World Cup was the most searched for keyword on Google in 2019 as the 12th Cricket World Cup was held in England and Wales, where India finished in the top four and England winning the Cup.

Lok Sabha Elections

As India went into polls this year for the election of its 17th Lok Sabha, the keyword became one of the most searched for in the year 2019. 

‘How to vote’ and ‘How to check name in voter list’ became the first and the third most searched questions in the ‘How to’ list.

What is Article 370?

‘What is Article 370’ was the most asked question by Indians this year, Google revealed, as the Indian government earlier this year abrogated Article 370 which bestowed special status to the former state of Jammu and Kashmir.

Lata Mangeshkar

The Indian singing icon made to the second spot only after being in the news since November this year. The 90 year old was hospitalised on November 11 after being diagnosed with pneumonia, soon after which false rumours of her death started surfacing. She was discharged from the Mumbai hospital on December 8.
