With India's tour against the West Indies starting from August 3, here's a look at the batting records of the world's number 1 and number 2 batsmen in ODI's against the Windies.

The Indian captain and the vice-captain are ranked just behind each other in the official ICC ODI Men's Batting Rankings.

Virat Kohli leads the list with 922 points and Rohit Sharma is placed second with 913 points.

With India's tour against the West Indies coming up starting from August 3, here's a look at the batting records comparison between the World's number 1 and number 2 batsmen.

Kohli, Rohit's debut in West Indies

Virat Kohli played his maiden One Day International game in West Indies in 2007, while Rohit Sharma made his debut on the Windies soil two years before Kohli, in 2009. 

Kohli last played a match in West Indies in the year 2017, while Rohit played a match in West Indies five years ago in 2013.

Matches played

Skipper Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma both have played almost the same amount of matches in West Indies.

Kohli has played 12 ODI's in comparison to Rohit's 11 matches.

Runs:

Kohli has an upper hand in the total the runs scored between the two.

Kohli has scored 556 runs in 12 matches, while Rohit has made 378 runs in 11 matches in the Caribbean.

Batting Average 

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both have excellent batting averages while playing against the West Indies.

Virat has an average of 55.60, while Rohit has a batting average of 54.00.

Half-centuries and Tons

While Rohit has more half-centuries than the Indian skipper, Kohli has left behind Rohit in the century department.

Virat has hit two tons in West Indies vs Rohit Sharma who is yet to hit his maiden ton in West Indies still manages to have almost the same average as Kohli.

Rohit has hit four half-centuries in comparison to Virat's three half-centuries.

Batting Strike Rate:

The Indian captain has a better and healthier strike rate in comparison to the Vice-captain of India.

Virat has been hitting the ball at a strike rate of 90.40, while Rohit Sharma has been hitting runs at a strike rate of 77.30 on West Indies soil.

It will be interesting to note how India's premier batsman stack up against Shelden Cotrell & Co.
