The Batman to Stranger Things: Anticipated shows/ movies releasing in 2022

The new year, 2022 has a bag full of major releases! After a lot of delay due to the covid-19 pandemic, next year calendar will feature some highly-anticipated films, including Marvel's 'Thor: Love and Thunder' to DC's 'The Batman'. 

Here's the list of the movies and shows coming out in OTT and theatres this year. 

Ozark S4

The final season of the Emmy-winning series will be among the year’s first releases in January.

Starring Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Julia Garner--and many others--the finale season is going to be deadlier than it already is. 

The first part of season 4 will release on January 21.

Morbius new poster

Sony has decided to not release its high profile Marvel film ‘Morbius’ starring Jared Leto in Russia.

In a statement, a Sony spokesperson said, “Given the ongoing military action in Ukraine and the resulting uncertainty and humanitarian crisis unfolding in that region, we will be pausing our planned theatrical releases in Russia, including the upcoming release of Morbius. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who have been impacted and hope this crisis will be resolved quickly.”

"We will make future business decisions based on the evolving situation" Disney said in a statement. "In the meantime, given the scale of the emerging refugee crisis, we are working with our NGO partners to provide urgent aid and other humanitarian assistance.

Mission Impossible 7

All the Tom Cruise fans have a reason to rejoice this year as one of the two instalments of the popular franchise ‘Mission: Impossible 7’ is finally releasing this year. 

'Mission Impossible 7' will hit theatres on 30 September 2022. The movie is helmed by writer-director Christopher McQuarrie and will see Cruise as spy Ethan Hunt -- a role that he has played since 1996.

Jurassic World: Dominion

The upcoming third movie in the legendary Jurassic World trilogy, 'Jurassic World: Dominion' starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard has been scheduled for a release on June 10, 2022.

Avatar 2

After a lot delays, James Cameron's most awaited sequel of 'Avatar' will release this year.  ‘Avatar 2’ will return audiences to Pandora and picks up 13 years after the events of the original film. It is the second film in the Avatar franchise, following Avatar (2009). Apart from Kate, Curtis, Edie Falco, Brendan Cowell, Michelle Yeoh, Jemaine Clement, Oona Chaplin, Vin Diesel, and CJ Jones are new additions to the original cast. 

‘Avatar 2’ is set to hit theaters on December 16, 2022.

Stranger Things Season 4

The new spooky season of 'Stranger Things' will return in 2022. The new season will be telecast almost two years after season 3, which premiered in July of 2019.

The new season will see everyone favourite Millie Bobby Brown as Eleven and Jim Hopper (David Harbour) will also be back for season 4 along with Dr Martin Brenner return. 

Netflix also added a new line of actors for its upcoming season as well as revealed the new recurring cast members.

Bridgerton season 2

After a massive success of season 1 makers spared no time in working on its second season. The most-awaited series has recently finished filming after a tough year with multiple setbacks due to COVID-19.

Marking the 1-year anniversary since season 1 premiered, Netflix announced that season 2 will release on March 25.

Thor: Love and Thunder

The fourth instalment of the Thor franchise 'Thor: Love and Thunder' will hit theatres on July 8. The film also stars Christian Bale as the main antagonist in addition to Natalie Portman taking the mantle of female Thor (Jane Foster) and obviously the original Thor, Chris Hemsworth reprising his role.

Black Adam

'Black Adam' starring Dwayne Johnson is slated to be released on July 29, 2022. Dwayne is playing the title role of anti-hero, the character first appeared in DC Comics in the 1940s as a villain corrupted by power. He became an anti-hero in the early 2000s.

Robert Pattinson starrer 'The Batman' is due to release on March 4, 2022. 'The Batman' will follow Bruce Wayne in the second year of his crime-fighting campaign in Gotham City.

The movie will see Pattinson approaching the caped crusader's character in an entirely different way and the actor will be backed by a supporting cast that includes Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Real, Barry Keoghan as Officer Stanley Merkel, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
