Princess Diana: Most iconic looks of all time on her 60th birth anniversary

Today would have been Princess Diana’s 60th birthday. She continues to be remembered as so much more than just a royal. From being a public favourite Duchess to an amazing mother and of course a style icon.

From turning her diamond necklace into a headpiece to her revenge dress, her sartorial styles that have and are even inspiring today's generation.

The revenge dress

Popularly referred to as Princess Diana's 'Revenge Dress', this black number by Christina Stambolian is what she wore to the Serpentine gallery following the statement made by Prince Charles admitting having an affair earlier that day. She accessorised the off-shoulder, black silk mini dress with a diamond necklace. This iconic dress has since been auctioned for $74,000.

Diana was often spotted in casual athletic wear -- casual sweatshirts, shorts and white sneakers. Till date her 'street-style fashion' influences many celebrities' casual wardrobes.

Pearl dress

In 1989, Princess Diana went all-in on the pearls as she wore aCatherine Walker white silk strapless dress and matching jacket which was also referred to as the 'Elvis Dress'. The dress was sold at a charity auction months before her tragic death.

Diana new tiara look

Princess Diana also brought to fashion revamping and reimagining one's jewllery as she wore her wedding gift from the Queen Elizabeth -- diamond and emerald choker necklace as a headpiece. She paired the tiara with a one-shouldered turquoise gown, designed by the Emmanuels.

Princess of Wales was a power-suited working woman. From grey to black, Diana was seen wearing fitted as well as loose, wide-length trousers with a sharp suit.
