Daniel Pearl was a journalist for the Wall Street Journal with American and Israeli citizenship. He was kidnapped and later beheaded by terrorists.

Tim Lopes was a Brazilian investigative journalist and producer for the Brazilian television network Rede Globo. He was abducted, tortured and killed by drug traffickers.
