IPL 2022: Kolkata Knight Riders beat Punjab Kings in comprehensive manner

Kolkata Knight Riders rode brilliant performances from Umesh Yadav and Andre Russell to beat Punjab Kings in their IPL 2022 encounter in Mumbai on Friday. Thanks to their second victory in the competition, KKR moved to the top spot in the points table.

Umesh Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for Kolkata Knight Riders as he took 4/23 in his four overs to restrict Punjab Kings to a below par total of 137.

Tim Southee provided able support to Umesh Yadav as he took three wickets to become the first New Zealand bowler to claim 250 T20 wickets. Sunil Narine and Andre Russell took one wicket each.

Sri Lanka's Bhanuka Rajapaksa was the top scorer for Punjab Kings with 31 as Kagiso Rabada was the only other player to cross the 20-run mark

Tim Southee also helped Kolkata Knight Riders' cause by pulling off two sensational catches to dismiss Liam Livingstone and Kagiso Rabada

In reply, Kolkata Knight Riders lost some wickets at the beginning but Andre Russell was at his destructive best as he scored 70 off just 31 deliveries with the help of two fours and eight massive sixes

Andre Russell stitched together a 90-run partnership with Sam Billings for the fifth wicket as KKR cruised to victory with more than five overs to spare
