IPL 2019: Key players in Mumbai vs Delhi clash

In the third match of IPL 2019, Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai will take on Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi at Wankhede Stadium. 

Rohit's performance will also be keenly observed as he is expected to open in the World Cup. 

In the previous season, he scored 286 runs with a strike rate of 133.02 including two half-centuries. 

Rohit Sharma, skipper of Indian Premier League side Mumbai Indians said that he will be opening the batting for his team in the upcoming edition of IPL. 

In 2018, Sharma had batted in the middle order and it didn't go well for him or the team and he finished his season with just 286 runs. 

The bowling department will lead by Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah, is another player who will be closely monitored by the Indian team management. 

In the previous season, he took 17 wickets and his economy was 6.88. 

However, it would be interesting to see how Mumbai will manage Bumrah's workload, especially when veteran Sri Lankan speedster Lasith Malinga is set to miss the first six games for the franchise. 

Hardik Pandya's performance in short cricket formats has been good and his growth as an all-rounder in IPL is splendid. 

In the previous season, he took 18 wickets and his economy was 8.92, besides he scored 260 runs including one half-centuries. 

But Pandya's workload management will be highlight point for the team. 

Also, Pandya has had two breakdowns in the last six months. A recurring back-injury first ruled him out of the Asia Cup in last September before missing the home series against Australia. 

Even former India pacer Zaheer Khan, who is Mumbai's Director of Cricket, felt Pandya's workload should be monitored since he has had recurring lower back injuries. 

Shikhar Dhawan in their armoury and the left-hander would be keen to get runs in the before the World Cup. 

Previously he played for Hyderabad and scored 497 runs with a strike rate of 136.91 including four half-centuries. 

His presence in Delhi unit will strengthen the team's batting department.

Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant will bolster his World Cup chances. 

He was magnificent in the previous season, scoring 684 with a strike rate of 173.60 including one century and five half-centuries. 

His experience id recent international outing will help  him boost his confidence. 

Trent Boult will lead Delhi's pace attack. In IPL 2018, he took 18 wickets and his economy was 8.84. 

Because of his pace and wicket-taking abilities, Boult is a lethal weapon for the opposition.
