Indian politicians who tested positive for Covid-19

With each passing day, India is adding a huge number of new patients to its Covid-19 caseload. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditayanath became the latest addition to the growing list of prominent political leaders who contracted the coronavirus. 

Here’s a list of prominent Indian politicians who tested positive for coronavirus:

Yogi Adityanath

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Aditayanath on April 14 announced that he has tested positive for Covid-19.  

“After noticing a few symptoms of Covid-19 I got myself tested for the virus. My report returned positive. I am currently under self-isolation,” the UP CM tweeted on Wednesday.

Pinarayi Vijayan

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan tested positive for the virus on April 8, just two days after polls were conducted in Kerala. He was admitted to the Government Medical College in Kozhikode with COVID-19, tested negative on April 14.

Kanimozhi

DMK Lok Sabha MP Kanimozhi was hospitalised on April 3 after she tested Covid-19 positive. She had campaigned in southern Tamil Nadu for DMK candidates in Tirunelveli and Tenkasi.

Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb

Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb Wednesday tested positive for Covid-19 and had self-isolated at home, he said in a tweet.

"I have been tested positive for Covid-19. I have isolated myself at home as per the advice of doctors. I request everyone to please follow all the covid appropriate behaviour and stay safe," he tweeted.

Aaditya Thackeray

Maharashtra state minister and Shiv Sena's youth leader Aaditya Thackeray was tested positive for COVID-19. Informing the public through his Twitter handle on March 20, the minister tweeted, "On having mild symptoms of COVID, I had myself tested and I am COVID positive. I request everyone who came in contact with me to get themselves tested".
