'Haseen Dillruba' to 'Jagame Thandhiram': 13 new movies in Netflix’s 2021 slate

Netflix India on Wednesday (March 4) unveiled 13 new movies under its 'See What's Next India' slate for the year 2021. From critically acclaimed drama, 'The Disciple' to Tapsee Pannu 'Haseen Dillruba' - the OTT platform has lined up some interesting projects.

The Disciple

Director Chaitanya Tamhane’s 'The Disciple'- The critically acclaimed drama traces the journey and conflicts of a classical vocalist. Apart from the complexities of life that Sharad played by Aditya Modak is dealing with in his life, the movie also shows us a devotion of a disciple towards his mentor played by Arun Dravid.

Dhamaka

Kartik Aryan's made her outstanding entry into the OTT world. Aryan starred in the Netflix movie 'Dhamaka' and played a journalist named Arjun Pathak, who covers the live broadcast of a terror attack in Mumbai.

Jagame Thandhiram

Dhanush next Tamil film 'Jagame Thandhiram' (Tricky World) is all set to release on Netflix. Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, the film follows the story of Suruli, a nomadic gangster who has to choose between good and evil in a war for what one can truly call home.

Milestone

Ivan Ayr's critically acclaimed drama 'Milestone' (Meel Patthar) is coming to Netflix. Starring Suvinder Vicky and Lakshvir Saran in major roles, the story follows a truck driver who tries to cope with the tragic death of his wife.

The movie premiered at some prestigious international Film Festivals while Vicky was given the Best Performer Award in the Asian feature film category at the Singapore International Film Festival.

Meenakshi Sundareshwar

Sanya Malhotra and Abhimanyu Dassani starrer 'Meenakshi Sundareshwar' is all set to premiere on Netflix. The rom-com helmed by Vikas Soni is set in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, and follows the story of a young couple and how they deal with trials and tribulations of life.

Jaadugar

Jitendra Kumar to make his Netflix debut with the upcoming movie 'Jaadugar'. He will star alongside Arushi Sharma and Javed Jafri.

The movie is set in a football-loving town, where a small-time magician with no athletic skill must win a coveted football trophy in order to marry the love of his life.

Haseen Dillruba

Taapsee Pannu gives her hundred percent to every single role that comes on her plate. Apart from many challenging ones, Pannu has even won hearts with her top-notch performance in 'Haseen Dillruba'.

Sardar Ka Grandson

Arjun Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh starrer Sardar Ka Grandson' will land on Netflix. The movie is a story about a grandson who wants to make his grandmother reunite with her lover who was divided during the partition.

The movie also stars Neena Gupta, John Abraham, Soni Razdan, Kanwaljit Singh, Kumud Mishra and Divya Seth in pivotal roles.

Pagglait

Sanya Malhotra comedy drama 'Pagglait' will premiere on 26th March on Netflix. Directed and written by Umesh Bist follows the story of recently widowed Sandhya struggling to mourn the death of her husband.

Navarasa

Mani Ratnam Tamil anthology series titled 'Navarasa', consisting of nine short stories. The anthology is reportedly based on the 9 emotions of a man.

The series features directors such as Gautham Menon, Karthik Naren, Priyadarshan and more. The star-studded series will see some actors including Vijay Sethupathi, Suriya, Nithya Menen, Revathi and others.

Ajeeb Daastaans

Karan Johar's new anthology 'Ajeeb Daastaans'. The movie is an anthology with 4 different stories exploring relationships and much more. 

The cast includes Shefali Shah, Manav Kaul, Nushrratt Bharuccha, Fatima Sana Shaikh, and Jaideep Ahlawat.

Bulbul Tarang

Sonakshi Sinha next project 'Bulbul Tarang'. The film has been directed by Shree Narayan Singh and is said to be inspired by a true story. The film also features Raj Babbar and Tahir Raj Bhasin.

Penthouse

Abbas Mustan to make their digital directorial debut with 'Penthouse'. The movie starring Bobby Deol in lead is reportedly said to be an official remake of the 2014 Belgian film 'The Loft'.

The movie follows a story of a debauchery-filled gathering for five friends that turns into a test of friendship and a web of suspicion when a dead body is found in their rented home. The movie also stars Arjun Rampal and Sharman Joshi in pivotal roles.
