Golden Globe Awards 2021: Nominees who would make history this year

The 2021 Golden Globe awards are just around the corner, and by looking at this year's nomination list, seems like the night would make history in different categories. 

From female directors, posthumous awards, and many more, a look at the list of people who would make history if they win.

George C. Wolfe, 'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom' is one of the frontrunners of this award season. The musical which had been nominated in several categories in Golden Globe could make history.  

Chadwick Boseman is posthumously nominated in the Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama). If Boseman win than he would be the first Black acting posthumous winner in history. The movie was directly debuted on Netflix so it will also be one of the first movie winners that debuted on a streaming service in this category.
 

Anthony Hopkins for his performance in 'The Father' has been nominated in the Best Actor category making him one of the oldest nominee in the category’s history. If he wins, he’ll be the oldest winner ever. Although if he losses, then he will be the first male actor with the most losses with the seven career nominations. 
 

Netflix 'Mank' is leading the nomination this year. In the Golden Globe, the movie is been nominated for best actor, drama (Gary Oldman), best director (David Fincher), supporting actress in a motion picture (Amanda Seyfried), best score (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross).  If the movie wins, it will be the first black-and-white film to win the category since 1993’s 'Schindler’s List' and also the first movie from the streaming platform. 

Jack Fincher is the first posthumous screenwriter nominee in history and maybe the first posthumous winner in the same category. Jack, who died in 2003, If he wins then it would be the longest time span of 17 years, between a Golden Globe winner’s death and the nomination and win. 
 

Golden Globe nomination list was praised for its diversity. Shaka King directorial 'Judas and the Black Messiah' is one of the movies that have been talked in this award season.

Daniel Kaluuya, who is the second youngest Black actor to obtain two Golden Globe nominations at 31. If he wins, then he would be the first acting performance to win by an all-Black producing team and the first black British born actor to win the award. 
 

Indian descent actor Dave Patel has been nominated for the ‘Best Performance By An Actor In A Motion Picture – Musical Or Comedy’ award for his role in 'The Personal History of David Copperfield'. If he wins, then he would be the first Asian actor to win this category. Dev is the second Asian actor ever to be nominated in the Best Actor category following Yul Brynner in 'The King and I' (1956).
 

Ragin King along with Chloe Zhao and Emerald Fennell- created history as they bagged nominations in the best director category at the Globes awards. If she wins, then she would be the first woman of colour to win the category and will be the oldest one to take the trophy in the category. 
 

Chloé Zhao's Nomadland' is the frontrunner movie of this year. Zhao, who became the first director of Asian descent to receive a Golden Globe nomination and would be the first woman of colour to win the category. The movie can make history is several other categories including Best Picture, screenplay and Best actress (Drama) – Frances McDormand.
 

Helena Zengel would be the youngest winner of a Golden Globe at the age of 12 in the Best Actor in a Supporting Role category. Before her, Ricky Schroder is the youngest one to win at the age of 9, he won in the category for a new star of the year, which no longer exists.
 

This year, Viola Davis bagged the Best actress nomination in Golden Globes for her incredible performance as Mother of Blues. Davis is the oldest Black female nominee this year if she wins then she will be the oldest winner in the history of the globe. Davis would be the second Black woman to win this award.  

Anya Taylor-Joy is nominated in Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical) Category. If Anya wins, she would be the first Latina to win this category in history.
