The 2021 Met Gala is here! After the pandemic cancelled last year's event, celebrities kicked off this year's event at  New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art with the same energy. 

This year's theme is 'In America: A Lexicon of Fashion' and celebrities showcased some eye catching designs on the red carpet - giving the designer's own interpretation to the theme.

Redhead beauty Gigi Hadid! The new mom walked the Met Gala 2021 red carpet with a dramatic red hair debut. 

The 26-year-old supermodel showed off her slender physique in a Prada white strapless gown with a dramatic slit down the backside. She accessorized her look with a diamond necklace that coordinated with her stud earrings and the glitzy barrette in her hair.  

Kendall Jenner is taking the sheer fashion trend to the next level. Jenner walked the big event in a sheer Givenchy gown doused in shiny diamonds over a corset bodysuit and paired it with a big diamond choker. The gemstone look was inspired by 1964's movie 'My Fair Lady'.

Jennifer Lopez made jaws drop as she made her highly-anticipated arrival at the 2021 Met Gala. The 52-year-old diva appeared in a Ralph Lauren-designed cowgirl getup featuring a plunging brown dress with a sky-high slit, faux fur, a choker chain and a cowgirl hat.

She accessorized her look with silver jewellery, including a chunky choker.

Rihanna also opted for all black look. The songstress showed up to the Met Gala 2021 wearing a Balenciaga voluminous black cape-gown with dramatic shoulders and a black knit cap over a layered diamond hairpiece and matching necklace. 

Billie Eilish channelled her hidden princess during her first-ever Met Gala. The seven-time Grammy winner looked more like Marilyn Monroe and was almost unrecognisable in a massive Oscar de la Renta gown with a flowing train. Moreover, her blonde curls and minimal make-up completed the diva's look in the best way. 

One of the most astonishing was Hailee Steinfeld, who looked completely unrecognizable and managed to look like a completely different person at the iconic event. The 24-year-old actress underwent a dramatic transformation as she donned a blonde bob for the occasion. The actress wore a very short Iris Van Herpen couture minidress, which showed her incredibly toned legs. 

After walking nearly nude in VMAs, Megan Fox opted for a dark red dress by Dundas. The skin-tight red dress featured a deep front with cutouts on the sides that were laced together and all of it was embroidered with the addition of a lengthy train and a high leg slit, and she also has bangs. 

Iman has served another iconic fashion moment at Met Gala 2021. The supermodel had all eyes on her as she arrived at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for the Costume Institute Gala in a massive gold feathered headpiece by designer Harris Reed. She wore a hoop skirt cage donned with the gold-painted feathers, and all was over a strapless metallic gold jumpsuit.

Emily Blunt showed off her phenomenal figure in a semi-sheer gown with a  glittering headpiece. Her dress was all adorned with crystals to protect her modesty and also featured a white cape. 

America's young poet laureate Amanda Gorman also walked the carpet in a stunning royal blue Vera Wang gown. Her look was inspired by the Statue of Liberty. Along with a sweetheart neckline, mini hem, and flowing draped detailing, the outfit features individually hand-stitched crystals.

Tennis star Naomi Osaka isn't just a winner on the court, she deserves all the accolades for her outfit at the Met Gala 2021. 

Naomi arrived at the 2021 Met Gala in a custom Louis Vuitton outfit, featuring a purple and blue swirl-print gown with a sweetheart-style neckline and an elaborate black ruffled cape. She amped up the drama quotient by pairing it with black boots and an elaborate hairstyle, accented with red sparkles.

Timothee Chalamet, one of the four Gen Z co-chairs of the so-called Oscars of the East Coast, sported a white silk suit with black lapels and white high-top sneakers.
