Oscar 2019 is already upon us. With just over a month for the big Hollywood night, the Academy has revealed the list of nominees in the race for Best Actor.

The starry list is up with names of actors who have given outstanding performances in their career so far.

Before the red carpet is rolled out and envelopes are opened, here is a rundown to the work done by these talented men:

Christian Bale (Vice)

Christian Bale's transformation into Dick Cheney in 'Vice' earned him the Oscar nomination for Best Actor this year.

With a wistful handsomeness to complement his impressive talent, Bale has played a number of unconventional, critically acclaimed films.

From the beginning of his career, he has shown a willingness to commit to such roles that go far beyond what most would likely not imagine doing. His first big feature film was Steven Spielberg's 'Empire of the Sun,' that earned him a National Board of Review Award for Best Juvenile Performance.

The charming actor did musicals like 'Newsies' (1992) and Velvet Goldmine(1998). His second breakout role, 'American Psycho' (2000) showed a new perspective of his selection of roles.

Then came 'Equilibrium' (2002) in which Bale's character, John Preston holds the third-highest body count in movie history with 118 kills. He also paved way for fellow actors by getting into the skin of his character like in 'The Machinist,' (2004). He showed staggering weight loss so as to portray a man who hadn't slept in a year after a personal tragedy. He lost 62 pounds (more than a third of his body weight) and earned highly positive reviews for both his performance and his commitment.

His amazing performance in 'The Fighter' (2010), made him earn his first Oscar nominations. Also, the actor's commitment to getting into the skin of the character in 'The American Hustle' (2013) is one of the applauded films. He got four Academy Awards nominations and won the Best Supporting Actor for 'The Fighter' in 2011.

Bale revived the Batman legacy with his performance worldwide but 'The Dark Knight' became a global phenomenon and established him as one of the biggest movie stars in the world.

The big hit 'The Hangover' and its two sequels showed his versatility as a comic actor and launched himself into movie stardom.

Cooper as Eddie Morra in 'Limitless' (2011), is one such role that earned him immense respect for the actor he is.

He received Best Supporting Actor Award for playing Richie DiMaso in Russell's 'American Hustle' (2013).

His major nominations include four Academy Awards, two British Academy Film Awards, five Golden Globe Awards and two Grammy Awards.

This year, the Academy Board might not celebrate him for his directorial skills in 'A Star is Born' but his outstanding performance has won him a nod for being in the category of Best Actor.
