The BJP has won the Gujarat Assembly Elections, but with a reduced vote share

Congress lost in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh.

Although Hardik Patel, Jignesh Mevani and Alpesh Thakore gave a major set back to the BJP.

Many predicted that the GST will be a crucial factor in the Gujarat election. With the inconvenience it created among the trading community, the BJP was predicted to suffer a loss. But the election data proves otherwise. BJP won a thumping victory in Surat and other industrial hubs of northern Gujarat.

Former JD(U) MLA Chhotubhai Vasava will contest from five places in the Gujarat Assembly polls.

These seats are Jhagadia, Dediapada, Mangrol, Morva Hadaf and Vaghodia, all reserved for the Scheduled Tribes (ST) category.
