BAFTA 2021: Chloe Zhao to 'Promising Young Woman' -- Big winners

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards took place on Sunday in London. The night big winner 'Nomadland’ swept the BAFTA 2021 Awards bagging four categories including best film, best actress and best director.

From Chloe Zhao, who made history to Sir Anthony Hopkins, who becomes the oldest ever male winner of the prestigious award, at the age of 83, let's take a look at the major wins.

Nomadland

The big winner of the night ‘Nomadland’, the frontrunner of the award season has marked another milestone. Chloe Zhao's critically lauded drama swept the BAFTA 2021 Awards and bagged four categories including the Best Film.

Chloe Zhao (Best Director)

Chloe Zhao 'Nomadland' triumphed at the BAFTA film awards 2021. Zhao made history by becoming the first woman of colour to win the BAFTA for best director and only the second woman in the award history.

Sir Anthony Hopkins

Legendary veteran actor Sir Anthony Hopkins won the 2021 BAFTA for Best Leading Actor, for his critically acclaimed performance in 'The Father'. By winning, Anthony become the oldest ever male winner of the prestigious award, at the age of 83.

Frances McDormand

Frances McDormand, the star of this year's award season won Best Actress for her indelible performance as Fern, a woman who leaves her hometown after her husband dies and embarks on a journey through the American West, living as a van-dwelling modern-day nomad.

Emerald Fennell revenge drama 'Promising Young Woman' has finally been released in India. It stars Carey Mulligan as a young woman haunted by a traumatic past as she navigates balancing forgiveness and vengeance

'Promising Young Woman

Debutante director Emerald Fennell was the star of this year's season. Emerald received the Original Screenplay honour for 'Promising Young Woman' her critically acclaimed thriller about a woman who seeks to avenge the death of her best friend, who was a victim of rape.

In Memorium

The 74th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA) paid tributes to late actors Chadwick Boseman, Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor who left us last year. 

The tribute, in the form of a video clip, was a homage paid to over 40 artists from the world of entertainment that were lost during the past year. It included actors, writers, directors, and technicians.
