Badrinath temple reopened today amid nationwide lockdown

Badrinath temple, in Uttrakhand, reopened on Friday morning amid nationwide lockdown.

The temple has not yet opened for devotees. However, the Tourism Minister has requested the central government to let the devotees from green zone visit the shrine.

Badrinath portals reopened on Friday morning. The temple is situated in Chamoli district of Garhwal Himalayas.

Reopened at 4:30am

The temple reopened at 4:30am on Friday. It has not opened its doors for public yet. Only selected 11 people were allowed to enter the premises and be a part of the prayers. Social distancing was followed by everyone involved.

First prayer from the PM

The first prayer at the dham was performed on behalf of Indian prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Reopening delayed

The temple was supposed to reopen on April 30. However, the date was changed after discussions with the Tehri royal family, who are the custodians of the Badrinath Temple.
