Australia hit by a rare magnitude 6.0 earthquake

Australia experienced a rare earthquake on Wednesday (September 22). Melbourne faced the most brunt. Earthquakes in Australia are rare due to its position in the middle of a tectonic plate. Images and videos on social media showed one of Melbourne's main streets getting blocked due to rubble. There were no immediate reports of injuries or casualties.
 

Quake shakes Melbourne

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Melbourne on Wednesday (September 22). This was one of Australia's biggest quake on record.

Epicentre close to Melbourne

Epicentre of the earthquake was located in Mansfield, a rural town 200 km northeast of Melbourne. It was at the depth of 10 km

The earthquake was felt even in Sydney and Adelaide. But there were no reports of damage in these cities.
