Are animals next? See how many have tested positive for COVID-19 so far!

With several tigers and lions being tested positive at a zoo in Bronx, New York, the hunt for the next potential animal host of the novel virus has been flagged off worldwide as COVID-19 blisters its way around the globe.

Here is a timeline of the animals that tested positive:

hong kong

A 17-year-old Pomeranian in Hong Kong first tested "weak positive" for the virus on February 28.

The dog was quarantined at a government facility from February 26 to March 14, after it finally tested negative for the virus and was allowed to return home.

The dog's owner, a 60-year-old woman, first tested positive for COVID-19 on February 25 and was hospitalized at the time, according to the news report.

She returned home on March 8 after recovering from the illness. But the animal died on March 16.

Hong Kong

The German Shepherd living in the Pok Fu Lam area on Hong Kong Island was sent for quarantine after being tested positive for the virus on March 27.

Belgium

About a week after its owner got sick with COVID-19, the cat developed coronavirus symptoms: diarrhea, vomiting and respiratory issues. Its owner had a travel history to Italy. 

This was the first case of human-to-cat transmission of the novel coronavirus.

Hong Kong

A pet cat has tested positive for the coronavirus in Hong Kong after its owner was confirmed with the virus.

The cat is the third animal to test positive in Hong Kong and the second cat to be tested positive worldwide.

New York

Four Amur tigers along with three African lions developed dry coughs along with decrease in their appetite after which they tested positive for the virus in a zoo in Bronx, New York.
