All hail to leg spin: Sandeep Lamichhane, Amit Mishra wipe out Mumbai's IPL 2018 play-off hopes

While chasing 174 runs, Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai were all-out in 19.3 overs and lost the match by 11 runs

Mumbai out of tournament

Defending Champions Mumbai lost the last chance to book a play-off berth in the ongoing edition of Indian Premier League as they have been kicked out of the tournament by Delhi team at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on Sunday.

Earlier, the host Delhi had won the toss and opted to bat in order to take the advantage of a dry pitch and put up a 175-run target for Mumbai.

While chasing, team Mumbai lost all the wickets in 19.3 overs and failed to reach the target eventually losing the match by 11 runs.

Sandeep Lamichhane

Star spinner and young talent from Nepal took 3 wickets in the match against Mumbai.

He knocked out Suryakumar Yadav (12), Kieron Pollard (7) and Krunal Pandya (4).

In his 4-over spell, he gave 36 runs and took 3 crucial wickets.

Amit Mishra

Amit Mishra proved the importance of experience when he took the wicket of Evin Lewis.

Lewis hit some splendid shots and was playing at a score of 48 runs before losing the wicket to Mishra.

Apart from Evin Lewis, Mishra also sent back to pavilion wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya.

In his 4-over spell, he gave 19 runs and took 3 crucial wickets.

Harshal Patel

Apart from spinners Sandeep Lamichhane and Amit Mishra, pacer Harshal Patel too made an important contribution to the team.

He too knocked out three batsmen and displayed a quality performance in the death overs as he took 2 wickets in the last over of Ben Cutting and Jasprit Bumrah.

Apart from Ben and Jasprit he also out bowled the skipper of Mumbai, Rohit Sharma.

In his 2.3-over spell, he took 3 wickets and gave 28 runs.

Rishabh Pant

After losing first three wickets, Delhi's Rishabh Pant rose to the occasion to help its team set a decent score of 174 runs on board.

The wicket-keeper batsman slammed 64 runs in 44 balls which included four boundaries and four huge sixes.

It is Pant's fifth half-century in this year's tournament.

Vijay Shankar

Rishabh Pant was supported at the other end by Vijay Shankar, who smashed 43 runs in 30 balls.

His unbeaten inning included three fours and two sixes.
