The court's fury had been invoked after it was informed by the CBI counsel that then interim CBI direct M Nageswara Rao and the other official had transferred CBI officer AK Sharma — who had been investigating the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case — without taking the court's consent.

The Supreme Court slammed the Central Bureau of Investigation Thursday, telling it that "you have played with order of Supreme Court of India. God help you."

"Never play with SC's order," Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi added.

The court added that then interim CBI director M Nageswara Rao was prima facie guilty of contempt of court and ordered him and another official to appear before it on February 12.

The court's fury had been invoked after it was informed by the CBI counsel that Rao and the other official, the agency's director of prosecution, had transferred CBI officer AK Sharma — who had been investigating the Muzaffarpur shelter home rape case — without taking the court's consent.

“We are going to take it very very seriously," CJI Gogoi added on Thursday.

Rao had been appointed interim CBI director after the government sent former director Alok Verma and his second-in-command Rakesh Asthana on leave.

Verma and Asthana had accused each other of corruption.

Rao was the first inspector general-level officer, ever, to be appointed CBI chief.
