As the Lanka continues to grapple with riot-hit Kandy, Jeffrey Feltman who was on a three-day visit to Sri Lanka condemned the anti-Muslim violence in the island country. Feltman condemned the "breakdown in law and order" and the "attacks against Muslims and their property," a UN statement said. 

A helicopter carrying several people crashed in New York City's East River on Sunday (March 11) and police and fire department divers were in the water around the partially submerged aircraft, according to officials and media reports. As of now, two people have been killed and one has survived. Further details are awaited. 

A 26-year-old Austrian was shot dead outside the Iranian ambassador's residence in Vienna on Sunday night after he attacked a guard with a knife, police said. The assailant "died on the spot" after the guard opened fire, police spokesman Harald Soeros told AFP, adding that the attack took place just before midnight local time in a residential area.

Three unidentified militants were today killed in an encounter with security forces in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, the Army said. The encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in Anantnag's Hakura in the early hours of Monday.

Russia said Sunday it successfully launched a hypersonic missile which President Vladimir Putin called "an ideal weapon" as he unveiled a new array of next-generation arms earlier this month. The high-precision Kinzhal (Dagger) missile was launched from a MiG-31 supersonic interceptor jet that took off from an airfield in the South Military District in Russia's southwest, the defence ministry said.
