The Indian Supreme Court on Friday recognised the right to passive euthanasiafor the terminally ill.  The decision was taken by a five-judge bench led by Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra. 

Rajasthan home minister GC Kataria said the government had made two amendments in the case -- adding life sentence and life imprisonment for convicts in offences against girls below 12 years of age and making a provision that a convict can't leave prison for life even after completing 14 years in jail.
