External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj today came to the rescue of a Kashmiri student residing in the Phillipines but not before pointing out to him that his profile incorrectly stated that he was from "Indian occupied Kashmir".

The student, identifying himself as Sheikh Ateek, had tweeted Sushma Swaraj for help with his passport.

“I m from j&k doing medicine course here in Philippines my passport got damaged i applied for new one 1 month ago i request u plz help me get it as i literally need to go home for medical check up (sic),” he said in a tweet tagging Sushma Swaraj.

"If you are from J&K state, we will definitely help you. But your profile says you are from 'Indian occupied Kashmir'. There is no place like that," Sushma Swaraj wrote.

The student, identifying himself as Sheikh Ateek had written Indian-occupied Kashmir on his Twitter profile.

He corrected the description when the external affairs minister pointed it out.

Sushma Swaraj replied that she was "happy" that he had corrected the profile and asked the concerned official to help him.
