Video: Two terrorists killed in encounter in J&K's Anantnag

Two terrorists were killed in an encounter between security forces and terrorists in Anantnag region of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday.

Security forces received information regarding three militants were hiding in Kokernag area of Anantnag district upon which the area was cordoned off.

The combing operation turned into a gunbattle after the firing upon a search party of the forces who retaliated. 

"As the cordon was tightened, the militants fired at the security forces triggering the ongoing gunfight," police sources said.

The terrorists had opened fire at a patrol party of the security forces.

A soldier said the encounter began early in the morning and security forces were trying to flush out one more militant after gunning down two.

Some arms and ammunition have been recovered from the encounter site at Garol in Kokernag, a police official said.

The identity and group affiliation of the slain ultra is yet to be ascertained.

The encounter comes days after militants shot dead three policemen in three different locations in the strife-torn province.
