Uttar Pradesh Health Centre: Eye operations conducted under torchlight, Chief Medical Officer dismissed
Uttar Pradesh Health Minister Sidharth Nath Singh dismissed the Chief Medical Officer of a community health centre in Unnao on Tuesday.
The stringent action came after it was reported that 32 patients underwent eye surgery under torchlight, a case of extreme medical negligence.
The operations were carried out on Monday under torchlight as the health centre reportedly did not have any electricity or power back up.
The relatives of the patients claimed that the health centre did not provide any bed and the patients were made to lie down on the floor despite the extreme cold weather.
The patients were referred to the health centre by a Kanpur-based NGO.
