UP: Man lynched after he is suspected of stealing buffalo

A man was lynched near UP's Bareilly Wednesday night after he was suspected of stealing a buffalo. 

News reports Thursday said Shahrukh, 20, was beaten to death in Bholapur Hadoliya village. 

The reports added that Shahrukh was working as a tailor in Dubai and was home on vacation. 

PTI quoted Superintendent of Police (City) Abhinandan Singh as saying four people had been arrested.

Police said Shahrukh and three others had gone out Wednesday night when a group of locals caught hold of them, suspecting that they had stolen a buffalo.

Police said Shahrukh was thrashed by the group, while the three people with him managed to escape.

Police added that Shahrukh was admitted to hospital in critical lcondition, and died later from his injuries. 

Singh said the cause of death, according to the post-mortem examination, was severe beating.

Singh added that both sides, Sharukh's brother and the people alleging the theft of the buffalo, had filed FIRs.
