J&K: One CRPF personnel killed in encounter with terrorists in Kupwara district

One CRPF personnel was killed and three others injured in an encounter with terrorists in Handwara in Jammu and Kashmir's(J&K) Kupwara district on Friday.

The security forces gunned down two terrorists during the overnight encounter at Babagund village of Langate in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Security forces had laid a cordon around the village after receiving inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area. After searching the area, the security forces were able to track the terrorists. 

Early in morning on Friday, firing in the area stopped and bodies of two terrorists were recovered from the spot. 

In wake of the Pulwama attack, Centre had declared Jama’at-e-Islami J&K as ‘unlawful association’. Hundreds of its activities have already been arrested by the security forces in the valley. 

Meanwhile,  Pakistan violated ceasefire in Kamalkote area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district. Civilian identified as Riyaz Ahmad was injured in the Pakistan shelling.
