There was not even a massive drop in the ratings for iOS users as the ratings only dropped down to 3.4 from a 3.5.

TikTok's rankings in India had dropped down to 1.2 in the past few weeks due to a controversy about the content. However, after a cleanup drive by Google, the ratings are back to 4.4 stars now.

Google has brushed off this sudden rise in ratings as a usual clean-up, and stated that the company takes a corrective action to remove inappropriate ratings and comments which are considered to be spam, offensive or abusive. “Play Store ratings enable users to provide helpful feedback about their experience with apps and content, for the benefit of others to make informed decisions,” a Google spokesperson said in a statement to a media organization.

The mass critique started due to a video uploaded by Faizal Siddiqui, which was considered to be insensitive and morally incorrect. people also accused the TikTok star of promoting acid attacks, which are morally and legally incorrect.

While the experts observed a massive drop in the ratings and an increase in the one-star ratings, those one-star ratings and hate comments cannot be seen on the Google Play Store anymore.

It is also believed that Google did actually play by the rules and removed the comments and ratings that were born out of hatred for the app, as according to Play Store guidelines, users are not allowed to manipulate the ratings of an app.

However, the mass clean-up drive seems to have happened only in Google Play Store, as Apple store still has the bad ratings and disapproving comments. There was not even a massive drop in the ratings for iOS users as the ratings only dropped down to 3.4 from a 3.5.
