The opposition's announcement comes amid Tamil Nadu government's decision to partially roll back the price hike.
Under the revised structure, the minimum ticket fare in MTC buses would be Rs 4 against the previous rate of Rs 5 and the maximum fare would be Rs 22 against the old rate of Rs 23.
The government on Sunday announced a partial rollback of bus fares after it came under attack from the opposition and commuters over the January 19 steep hike in fares.
